Description of key information

Bromide ions are known not to strongly adsorb to soil particles. This property is utilised through the employment of bromide ions as tracers in soils (Levy B.S. et al., 1987; Smith S.J. et al.,1974; Germann P.F. et al., 1984). Therefore the Koc is assumed to be very low and an adsorption / desorption screening study is not required.
For the purpose of risk assessment and based on the high water solubility and low estimated Log Kow value the Log Koc is considered to be in the range of -1.00.
