Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

log Koc 4.94 - 5.46 (KOCWIN v2.00)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No studies investigating the adsorption/desorption behaviour of Fatty acids, C16-18, butyl esters (CAS No. 85408-76-0) are available. Using KOCWIN Program (v2.00), log Koc values of 4.94 and 5.68 were calculated for the C16 fatty acid constituent, based on log Kow and on molecular connectivity index (MCI), respectively. Only the value based on MCI is fully reliable, since the constituent is outside the Kow range of the training set for the log Kow based method. For the C18 fatty acid constituent the values were 5.46 based on MCI and 6.22 based on log Kow. However, the C18 fatty acid constituent is outside the Kow range of the training set for both methods, and the definite values are thus not fully reliable. However, since the main factor determining the log Koc value of fatty acids is the chain length, it is to be expected that the C18 fatty acid constituents have a higher Koc value compared to the shorter constituent. Since the reliable, MCI based value for the C16 constituent already indicates high adsorption potential, it can be assumed that the UVCB substance has high adsorption potential.
