Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

In total, 16 chronic data are available for 3 different species of non-arthropod soil invertebrates exposed to natural EU and North American soils. Reliable chronic NOEC/EC10 values for reproductive success range from 52 to 1091 mg added Co/kg dw, both results observed for reproduction by the pot worm Enchytraeus albidus (De Schamphelaere et al, 2008). Below are the accepted high quality studies for non-arthropod soil macro-organisms, for both the added cobalt and total cobalt values, used to calculate a geometric mean for derivation of the HC5 and terrestrial PNEC.
