explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties

Description of key information

Cobalt borate neodecanoate does not contain functional groups that are directly associated with explosive properties. It is therefore considered to be void of any explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

non explosive

Additional information

According to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VII, Section 7.11 Column 2 and ECHA Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance, section R.7.1.11, December 2016, the study does not need to be conducted. This substance is void of any chemical structures commonly associated with explosive properties, such as metal peroxides, peroxo-acid-anions, azides, and halogen oxides. Furthermore, a differential scanning calorimetric analysis (DSC, OECD 113) under nitrogen was conducted for this substance, which can be used as a screening for the determination of explosive properties. This DSC-measurement in a closed glass crucible showed no exothermal effects up to 400 °C.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Cobalt borate neodecanoate does not need to be classified according to CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 since explosive properties are considered non-relevant based on the lack of functional group.
