Description of key information

1,2-Propylene glycol diacetate (PGDA) does not display pyrophoric properties and does not ignite on contact with water. The flash point of PGDA is 87 °C and the boiling point is 191,5 °C at normal pressure. Hence, the flash point is greater than 60 °C and classification for flammability is not required according to EU criteria.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

In accordance with REACH Annex VII and REACh Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance thestudydoes not need to be conducted because of the absence of structural alerts. Hence, testing is not necessary for pyrophoric properties and flammability of contact with water.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Flammable liquid means a liquid having a flash point of not more than 60 °C. The flash point of 1,2 -propylene glycol diacetate is 87 °C and the boiling point is 191,5 °C at normal pressure. Hence, the flash point is greater than 60 °C and classification for flammability is not required according to EU criteria.
