Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A 72-hr Acute Toxicity Test with Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was conducted with DOWANOL PGDA. The test conduct followed OECD Guideline
201 and met GLP requirements. The 72-hr EC50 for growth rate was determined to be 273 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
273 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
118 mg/L

Additional information

A short-term aquatic toxicity test was conducted with the freshwater green algae, Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata for 72 -hrs exposed to propane-1,2 -diyl diacetate (DOWANOL PGDA) with growth rate inhibition as the endpoint. The test followed OECD 201, met GLP requirements and therefore was consider the key study with a Klimisch score of 1. Test concentrations were set at 3.2, 10, 32, 100, 320, 1000 mg/L with a laboratory water control. The 72 -hr EC50 value was 273 mg/L (C.I. 264 - 285 mg/L). The No Observed Effect Concnetration (NOEC) was calcuated to be 34.9 and the EC10 was 118.4 mg/L.
