Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
biodegradation in water: sediment simulation testing
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is readily biodegradable
Endpoint:
biodegradation in water: simulation testing on ultimate degradation in surface water
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is readily biodegradable

Description of key information

In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex IX, Section 9.2.1.2 Column 2 the simulation test on ultimate degradation in surface water does not need to be conducted if the substance is readily biodegradable. This has been demonstrated by the Key study according OECD TG 301 A (section 5.2.1). More than 70% of the test substance was degraded within 22 days. The 10-day window was met.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to EC 1907/2006, Annex IX, points 9.2.1.2 and 9.2.1.4, column 2, simulation testing of degradation in surface waters and sediment is not required due to the fact that B-TEGME is readily biodegradable, as shown in study section 5.2.1.
