- Executive summary:
The water solubility of di- tert- butyl peroxide was determined according to OECD test guideline 105. The flask method was used to perform the water solubility test because a literature search and a preliminary study indicated that the water solubility would be >100 mg/l. Head- space gas chromatography was used to determine the concentration of the test substance in water. The average water solubility of di- tert- butyl peroxide in this study was determined to be 171 mg/l.
Reference
Three sets of samples (in duplicate) were analyzed 24, 48 and 72 hours after weighing of the test substance Trigonox B and addition of water. The concentration of the test substance was quantified using Head-space GC Chromatography. Table 6.1 presents a summary of the three sets of tests performed. The amount of test substance weighed at the start of the test, the pH of the dilutions and the calculated results after analysis are all displayed in Table 1.
