Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

At 25 °C 50% of 4-Aminodiphenylamine hydrolyzes in 42 days at pH 7 and in 75 days at pH 4 with light excluded according to Arrhenius equation (Bayer AG, 2002). The half-life of 4-Aminodiphenylamine in nutrient medium in present of radiation and oxygen is 3.5 days at pH 7 and 20°C (Bayer Industry Services, 2004).

Additional information

The stability of 4-ADPA in aqueous test solutions was examined for the influence of light, nutrient medium, aerobic conditions, and heavy metals (Bayer AG, 2002 and Bayer Industry Services, 2004). The conditions of radiation and nutrient medium tested simulated those used in ecotoxicological tests according to EU Methods (Algal inhibition test). 4-ADPA as well as the main metabolite 4-hydroxydiphenylamine was monitored by HPLC with UV detection. At 20°C a half-life of 84 h (3.5 d) was estimated. Maximum formation of 4 -hydroxydiphenylamine and aniline was 16.6% and 10.6%. The obtained half-life of 3.5 d was used to estimate the effective concentrations from nominal concentrations mentioned in ecotoxicity studies.
