Seven different reference items were solved (approximately 100 mg - 150 mg in 50 mL of methanol, solvent for sodium nitrate: 55% methanol / 45% water (V/V)).
Similarly, the test item was solved (167.6 mg, 184.2 mg and 175.7 mg in 50 mL of
55% methanol/45% water (V/V), analysis in real triplicate) and analyzed.
Annotation: pH value cannot be determined, as test solutions are made from
methanol. pH value is only defined for aqueous solutions.

- Details on results (HPLC method):
- By analysis of seven different reference items via HPLC the corresponding
retention times were determined. The retention time of sodium nitrate was taken as
dead time (t0), and the retention times of the other reference items (tr) were
corrected by subtracting the dead time (tr – t0).
The capacity factor k’ was calculated for each reference item: k = (tr - t0) / t0. By relating log k’ to the corresponding log Koc values (known from literature), a calibration was set up.
Table of reference items , their retention times (minutes) and capacity factors:
Reference Item LogKoc t tr-10 Logk'
Sodium nitrate 1.424
Acetanilide 1.25 3.193 1.769 0.094
Phenol 1.32 3.2 1.776 0.096
Methylbenzoate 1.80 3.671 2.247 0.198
Naphthalene 2.75 5.363 3.939 0.442
1,2,3-Trichlorobenzene 3.16 5.338 3.914 0.439
Phenanthrene 4.09 8.335 6.911 0.686
After correction of the retention times, calculation of the capacity factors and
application of the calibration curve of reference standards, the following adso rption
coefficients log Koc of th substance can be reported:
Average tR Peak Area(%) Log Koc(test substance)
Peak1 2.94 1.20 0.97
Peak2 3.28 9.06 1.39
Peak3 3.40 13.10 1.52
Peak4 3.75 4.19 1.85
Peak5 3.97 26.14 2.05
Peak6 4.17 26.67 2.20
Peak7 4.39 19.64 2.36
Considering the corresponding peak areas, the weighted average adsorption
coefficient log Koc of the substance is 2.0. - Validity criteria fulfilled:
- yes
- Conclusions:
- The adsorption coefficient log Koc of C-SAT 100014 was estimated accord ing to OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals No. 121.
The weighted average adsorption coefficient log Koc of C-SAT 100014 is 2.0. - Executive summary:
The adsorption coefficient log Koc of C-SAT 100014 was estimated accord ing to OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals No. 121. The weighted average adsorption coefficient log Koc of C-SAT 100014 is 2.0.
