Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The autoflammability temperature of members of category C4, high 1,3-butadiene (≥ 0.1%) range is 364 to 413°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
384 °C

Additional information

Autoflammability data were available from proprietary studies from BASF for the CAS numbers 87741-01-3: 364°C, 92045-23-3: 374°C and 64742-83-2: 413°C (BASF 2008). The studies were based on standard guidelines and so were considered reliable for use. The autoflammability of Category C4, high 1,3 -butadiene (0.1%) is therefore reported to range from 364 to 413°C.

The mean of the autoflammability temperature values for the category is 384°C at approximately 101325 Pa and this has been used to complete the 'key value for chemical safety assessment'.
