Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
Study initiation date: 29 June 2009 Study completion date: 28 October 2009
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: GLP-Guideline Study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility)
Version / remarks:
adopted on 27 July 1995
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.6 (Water Solubility)
Version / remarks:
Directive 92/69/EEC, Official Journal L 383 A 1992
Deviations:
no
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Since it was not possible to receive an aqueous mixture with undissolved test item, two 1 : 1 mixtures were prepared. The mixtures were shaken for 1 min, then equilibrated at 20 ± 0.5 °C for 69 h. No
phase separation was observed.
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
flask method
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Storage: at approx. 4 °C/ cool; at room temperature
Key result
Water solubility:

Conc. based on:
test mat.
Loading of aqueous phase:
1 000 g/L
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
6.1
Details on results:
The water solubility of the test item was determined according to OECD guideline no. 105 [adopted
on 27 July 1995] and EU test method A.6 [Directive 92/69/EEC, Official Journal L 383 A 1992] with
the modified flask method.
The test item is miscible in a 1 : 1 ratio mixture (w/w) with water (at 20°C).

2) The purified water used for the tests had a pH value of 6.46.

Conclusions:
Interpretation of results: miscible
The test item is miscible in a 1 : 1 ratio mixture (w/w) with water (at 20°C).
Executive summary:

The water solubility of the test item was determined according to OECD guideline no. 105 [adopted on 27 July 1995] and EU test method A.6 [Directive 92/69/EEC, Official Journal L 383 A 1992] with the modified flask method. The test item is miscible in a 1 : 1 ratio mixture (w/w) with water (at 20°C).

Description of key information

Water solubility (OECD 105): > 0.50 g/cm^3 at 20 °C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
500 g/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

The water solubility of the test item was determined according to OECD guideline no. 105 [adopted on 27 July 1995] and EU test method A.6 [Directive 92/69/EEC, Official Journal L 383 A 1992] with the modified flask method. The test item is miscible in a 1 : 1 ratio mixture (w/w) with water (at 20°C).

From the additon of equal weights of test item and water (ca. 5 g test item added to 5 mL of water) in duplicate samples, test item concentration was determined by carbon analysis (results: 51.6 and 52 % w/w). From a densitiy of the test item close to 1, a solubility related to volume of ca. >= 0.5 g/mL or >=500 g/L was estimated.
