Description of key information

Difluoromethane is expected to distribute mainly to the atmospheric compartment following emission to the environment.

A theoretical distribution of difluoromethane has been calculated at 25 °C using the fugacity model level 1 of Mackay (Nordbas1) with a vapor pressure of 16,900 hPa and a solubility of 1.7 g/l. Approximately 99.99 % of difluoromethane released into the environment will enter the air compartment, 0.01 % will partition into water compartments and 0.18 E-5 % into soil compartments.

No experimental results are available for adsoprtion/desorption. However, a Koc value of 1.49 L/kg - 21.73 L/kg (log value of 0.17 - 1.34 respectively) was estimated using the EPI Suite PCKOC Program (v2.00).
