Endpoint:
storage stability and reactivity towards container material
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Justification for type of information:
Stability of stored xanthates when kept dry in their container
Type of method:
other: thermo-gravimetric
Transformation products:
yes
Conclusions:
Solid xanthates are relatively stable if kept dry and cool. The thermo-gravimetric study of xanthates decomposition(using Perkin-Elmer TGA7) shoved the following temperature at which decomposition of dry solid xanthates begins.

Description of key information

Stable when stored dry in original containers.
