Additional information

As based on the physico-chemical properties and its extremely low water solubility, the substances of the "Iron Oxides Category" (Iron oxides) are expected to have a low potential for adsorption and studies on adsorption / desorption do not need to be conducted.

All category members are ubiquitous in the environment. Iron, manganese and zinc are essential elements for humans, animals, plants and microorganisms.

The Henry’s law constant (HLC) and the distribution of iron oxides in the environment are not calculated according to the Mackay fugacity model, because the substances are inorganic and have an extremely low vapor pressure at ambient temperature.

Iron oxides are not volatile from aqueous suspensions.

In the atmosphere, iron oxide substances will exist solely in the particulate phase and may be removed from the air by wet and dry deposition.
