Description of key information

The surface tension of the substance could not be determined due to its insolubility in water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to REACH Annex VII Section 7.6, column 2 a surface tension test does not need to be conducted if the water solubility is below 1 mg/L at 20 °C. The water solubility has been determined to be < 0.3 mg/L.

In a test designed to determine the classification of the substance according to the Harmonized System Chapter Notes, Chapter 34 - "Surface Active Agents", the substance was mixed with deionised water at a concentration of 0.5% at 20 °C and left to stand for one hour at the same temperature. The substance was reported to be insoluble and hence did not meet the requirements of an organic surface active agent as defined by the Harmonized System Chapter Notes, Chapter 34 - "Surface Active Agents".
