Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Adsorption to solid soil phase is expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:
584 400 000

Additional information

The log Koc was estimated by KOCWIN (as part of EPISuite v4.11). Using MCI method the log Koc and the Koc were calculated to be 8.7667 and 5.8x10E8 and using the logKow method the log Koc and the Koc were calculated to be 7.6214 and 4.182x10E7, respectively. The substance is not within the applicability domain of the models. Therefore the estimation may be less accurate. Nevertheless as the estimated log Koc of both models in distinctly above 3 it was concluded that adsorption to solid soil phase is expected.

In Article 13 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, it is laid down that information on intrinsic properties of substances may be generated by means other than tests, provided that the conditions set out in Annex XI (of the same Regulation) are met. Furthermore according to Article 25 of the same Regulation testing on vertebrate animals shall be undertaken only as a last resort.

According to Annex XI of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (Q)SAR results can be used if (1) the scientific validity of the (Q)SAR model has been established, (2) the substance falls within the applicability domain of the (Q)SAR model, (3) the results are adequate for the purpose of classification and labelling and/or risk assessment and (4) adequate and reliable documentation of the applied method is provided.

For the assessment of [1,1':3',1''-Terphenyl]-2'-ol, 5',5''''-(2,2,2-trifluoro-1-methylethylidene)bis- (Q)SAR results were used for adsorption / desorption. The criteria listed in Annex XI of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 are considered to be adequately fulfilled and therefore the endpoint(s) sufficiently covered and suitable for risk assessment.

Therefore, further experimental studies on adsorption / desorption are not provided.
