Description of key information

Appearance:

The test chemical is organic colourless liquid and physically appears as oily liquid with pungent odour.

Melting point:

Based on available data from reliable sources such as authoritative database and handbook, the freezing point of test chemical was determined to be -57.5 °C

Boiling point:

Based on available data from reliable sources such as authoritative database and handbook, the boiling point of test chemical is determined to be 97.8 °C.

Density:

Based on available data from reliable sources such as authoritative database and handbook, the density of test chemical was determined to be 1.510 g/cm3 at 20 °C.

Particle size distribution:

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is marketed or used in a non solid or granular form

Vapour pressure:

Based on available data from reliable sources such as authoritative database and handbook, the vapour pressure of test chemical was determined to be 4.666 kpa at 20°C

Partition coefficient:

Based on available data from reliable sources such as authoritative database and handbook, the partition coefficient of test chemical is determined to be 0.99 dimensionless.

Water solubility:

Based on available data from reliable sources such as authoritative database and handbook, the water solubility of test chemical was determined to be 8300000 mg/l at 25°C

Surface tension:

Based on available data from reliable handbook, the surface tension value of test chemical was determined to be 0.02534 N/m.

Flash point:

Based on available data from various reliable sources such as authoritative database and handbook, the flash point of test chemical was determined to be 167 °C.

Auto flammability:

Test chemical did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that test chemical is not auto-flammable.

Flammability:

Flash point of the test substance is observed to be at 167 °C. Based on criteria mentioned in CLP regulation the chemical has flashpoint greater than 60 °C, hence the substance is considered to be nonflammable.

Explosiveness:

The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties

Oxidising properties:

The study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance contains oxygen or halogen atoms which are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.
