Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 of Annex VIII 9.2.2.1 of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, testing for hydrolysis is not required since the substance is readily biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Experimental studies investigating the abiotic hydrolysis of Fatty acids, C18 unsaturated, ethyl & methyl esters (EC 941-981-3) are not available. According to Annex VIII, column 2, 9.2.2.1. of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 testing is not required since the substance is readily biodegradable. A QSAR calculation (HYDROWIN v2.00) estimated half-lives of ranging from 7.28 – 7.17 years at pH 7 and from 266 - 281.63 days at pH 8 respectively (Birkhofer, 2015). Thus hydrolysis is not relevant for the substance.
