- Endpoint:
- vapour pressure
- Type of information:
- read-across from supporting substance (structural analogue or surrogate)
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- 27/02/2012-23/05/2012
- Reliability:
- 1 (reliable without restriction)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- guideline study
- Justification for type of information:
- Read across from BROMINATED EPOXY HAVING EPOXY EQUIVALENT OF 400 gr/eq is justified by:
1.Both materials have the same backbone containing CMO-TBBPA-CMO.
2.Both materials have the same components distribution.
3.The difference between the two materials is the tribromophenol endcap.
An analytical report for BROMINATED EPOXY HAVING EPOXY EQUIVALENT OF 400 gr/eq is provided as attached justification. the analytical results can be compared to the composition of F-3014 (section 1.2). - Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
- read-across source
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- OECD Guideline 104 (Vapour Pressure Curve)
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- EPA OPPTS 830.7950 (Vapor Pressure)
- Principles of method if other than guideline:
- /
- GLP compliance:
- yes
- Type of method:
- spinning rotor
- Key result
- Test no.:
- #1
- Temp.:
- 20 °C
- Vapour pressure:
- < 0 Pa
- Remarks on result:
- not determinable
- Conclusions:
- The mean vapor pressure for Brominated Epoxy at 20 ± 1°C was less than the recommended reporting range of the spinning rotor gauge method (1 x 10-4 Pa).
F-3014 compare to BROMINATED EPOXY HAVING EPOXY EQUIVALENT OF 400 gr/eq has tribromophenol as an endcap. This endcap increase the molecular weight and cause the material to become solid compare to BROMINATED EPOXY HAVING EPOXY EQUIVALENT OF 400 gr/eq which is wax like. Thus, the VP for F-3014 is expected to me even lower than the measured value for the BROMINATED EPOXY HAVING EPOXY EQUIVALENT OF 400 gr/eq. - Executive summary:
The mean vapor pressure for Brominated Epoxy at 20 ± 1°C was less than the recommended range of the spinning rotor gauge method (1 x 10-4 Pa).
Reference
The offset value (mean DCR) was 3.0562 x 10-7 s-1 at 20 ± 1°C.
This value was based on the average deceleration rate measured with an empty sample chamber.
The mean measured background vapor pressure of the system by the SRG method was 2.22 x 10-5 Pa at 20 ± 1°C.
The mean measured vapor pressure of the reference substance, hexachlorobenzene, by the SRG method was 1.37 x 10-3 Pa at 20 ± 1°C. The vapor pressure was consistent with published values.
The system offset pressure using a weighted average molecular weight of 803 g/mol was 1.4659 x 10-4 Pa at 20 ± 1°C. The mean measured vapor pressure of Brominated Epoxy, using a weighted average molecular weight of 803 g/mol, by the SRG was 1.43 x 10-5 Pa at 20 ± 1°C, which was below the recommended reporting range of the spinning rotor gauge method.
Description of key information
F-3014 compare to BROMINATED EPOXY HAVING EPOXY EQUIVALENT OF 400 gr/eq has tribromophenol as an endcap. This endcap increase the molecular weight and cause the material to become solid compare to BROMINATED EPOXY HAVING EPOXY EQUIVALENT OF 400 gr/eq which is wax like. Thus, the VP of F-3014 is expected to me even lower than the measured value for the BROMINATED EPOXY HAVING EPOXY EQUIVALENT OF 400 gr/eq. This assumption is further supported by QSAR assessment for the smallest component. The assessment predict a VP value in the order of magnitude less than 10-20Pa.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Vapour pressure:
- 0 Pa
- at the temperature of:
- 25 °C
