Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Stability:

Based on common knowledge concerning the reaction behaviour of organic substances, Mexoryl SBO does not undergo significant hydrolytic reaction. The fucntional groups of the molecule, a carboxylic group, a hydoxylic group and a alkyl group are inert against nucleophilic attacks from water oxygen. The hydrolysis study therefore was being waived.

Biodegradation:

The substance proved to be readily biodegradable, but failing 10-day window according to a valid CO2 Evolution (Modified Sturm) Test, OECD 301 B. The result provides sufficient evidence that the substance is not to be considred as (very) persistent in the context of the P-criterion in the PBT discusion.

Transport and distribution (Adsorption/desorption):

No determination of the adsorption coefficient was possible by the HPLC screening method, Method C19 Adsorption Coefficient of Commission Regulation (EC) No 44012008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 121 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 22 January 2001. The method is not valid for organic acids. Using the specialized predictive software PCKOCWIN, version 2.00,©2009, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the adsorption coefficient of the test item was estimated to be 24.1, log10 Koc, 1.38.
