Results:

A measurement chamber with a volume of Vc= 7.8961 cm3and an expansion chamber with a volume of Vr= 6.0848 cm3were used.

Two test series with different weights were performed at ambient temperature (20.0 °C). For results seeTable1andTable2.

Executive summary:

The relative density of the test item at ambient temperature (compared to water at 4 °C) was determined to be:

D4R = 1.61      (20.0 °C)

Description of key information

The relative density of the test item at ambient temperature (compared to water at 4 °C) was determined to be: 1.61 at 20.0°C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Relative density at 20C:
1.6

Additional information

The density of the test item was measured at ambient temperature with the gas comparison pycnometer. A constant temperature of the environment of the apparatus was regulated by an air-conditioning unit and controlled with a thermometer. The apparatus with the test item was swept 10-times with 19.5 psi Helium. Thereafter, the valve to the expansion chamber was opened and a certain amount of gas (Helium, purity min. 99.99 %) was expanded from the measurement chamber containing the test item to the expansion chamber. From the pressure drop from p1 to p2 the volume of the test item was calculated. The estimated accuracy of this method is 0.01 g/cm³.

The relative density of the test item at ambient temperature (compared to water at 4 °C) was determined to be: 1.61 at 20.0°C
