Description of key information

No data is avaialble on the carcinogenicity potential, neither for primary alkylamines in general nor for C12-18-(even numbered)-alkylamines in particular. However, negative data from mutagenicity testing in vitro and in vivo as well as sparce data from chronic toxicity tests in animals do not give a concern that primary alkylamines such as C12-18-(even numbered)-alkylamines may have a carcinogenic potential.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Additional information

Negative data from mutagenicity testing in vitro and in vivo as well as sparce data from chronic toxicity tests in animals do not give a concern that primary alkylamines such as C12-18-(even numbered)-alkylamines may have a carcinogenic potential. Based hereupon respective classification is not warranted. This conclusion is in line with the existing EU risk assessment on primary alkylamines.
