-Performance of the Test
The vapor pressure was determined using an isoteniscope system in which the sample's vapor pressure was measured using a mercury-in-glass manometer. The temperature of the sample was regulated by use of a silicone oil bath.

A diagram of the apparatus is presented in Figure 1. The sample was placed in the isoteniscope tube such that a portion was in each of the reservoir and the U-tube. After evacuating the vacuum arm of the manometer, the sample was boiled at a suitable temperature and pressure to allow the sample to degas, any volatile impurities being distilled into the cold-finger. After removal of impurities, the temperature and pressure of the sample were altered such that data pairs were found for which the menisci formed by the sample in the two arms of the U-tube were level. At these points, the pressure of the vapor above the sample reservoir was equal to the system pressure, measurable on the manometer.

Run 1
A fresh sample of test material was degassed for 5 minutes. Temperature and pressure readings were then taken between 170 and 149 °C.

Run 2
The sample used in Run 1 was degassed for a further 5 minutes. Temperature and pressure readings were then taken between 171 and 149 °C.

Run 3
A fresh sample of test material was degassed for 6 minutes. Temperature and pressure readings were then taken between 169 and 145 °C.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The vapor pressure of the test item has been determined to be 68.5 Pa at 25 ºC.
Executive summary:

Thevapor pressureofMelusat has been determinedto be 68.5 Pa at 25 °C, using the isoteniscope method, designed to be compatible with Method A.4 Vapour Pressure of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 104 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 23 March 2006.
