Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria

Description of key information
In the study no inhibition of growth on the freshwater green alga Desmodesmus subspicatus was found after 72 hours exposure to the test item. Effects were determined according to the principles of OECD 201 under static exposure conditions. Five water accommodated fractions (WAF) were prepared with a nominal loading of 10.0 - 25.0 - 62.5 - 156 - 391 mg test item/L and removal of particulate matter by sedimentation.
The nominal EL50-values for inhibition of growth rate (ErL50) and yield (EyL50) after 72 hours were >391 mg/L, respectively. The nominal NOEL-values for inhibition of growth rate and yield after 72 hours were for both 391 mg/L, respectively.

Since no effects on algae were seen in this test the EL50 value has to be interpreted as being larger than 391 mg/L.
