Description of key information

No sediment toxicity data were available for freshwater or marine sediments exposed to diisobutyl ketone (2,6-dimethylheptan-4-one, DIBK).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Direct or indirect exposure of the sediment compartment is unlikely because Diisobutyl ketone has a low potential for adsorbtion to sediment, having a Log Koc of 2.07. It is also readily biodegradable and has moderate water solubility (430 mg/l). The risk assessment shows that the estimated PEC/PNEC ratios are clearly <1, indicating no further information or testing is needed.
