Description of key information

Log Koc: 4.24 - 6.86 (MCI method); 3.71 - 6.43 (based on log Kow)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No experimental studies investigating the adsorption/desorption potential of Lauric acid ester with hydroxypropanediyl diacetate (CAS 30899-62-8) are available. Therefore, the log Koc was calculated using KOCWIN v2.00 based on the Molecular Connectivity Index (MCI) and estimated using the log Kow (Müller, 2016). The models have no universally accepted definition of the model domain, but the larger component of the substance (triester of C2/C12/C12 and glycerol) is outside the log Kow range of the training set of the MCI and the log Kow model. The definite values for this component may not be fully reliable, but indicate a high adsorption potential (log Koc: 6.43 - 6.86), which is also to be expected based on the high log Kow. Nevertheless, the log Koc for the smaller component of the substance is fully reliable since the component is within the training set. The result indicates a moderate potential for adsorption (log Koc: 3.71 - 4.24). Since the log Koc increases with the length of the fatty acid chain, it can be assumed that the adsorption potential of Lauric acid ester with hydroxypropanediyl diacetate is moderate to high.
