Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2015
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.1 (Melting / Freezing Temperature)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
Deviations:
not applicable
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
thermal analysis
Remarks:
Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) / Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)
Melting / freezing pt.:
206 °C
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
>= 240 - < 380 °C
Remarks on result:
other: No pressure reported

RESULT:

- A melting point between 204 and 207 °C could be observed due to the detected endothermal effect

- After the melting of the test item an exothermal phase could be observed between around 240 and 380 °C

- Up to the decomposition of the test item no definite boiling point was observed

Conclusions:
The melting temperature of the substance is in the range of 204 and 207 °C and no pressure was reported.
Executive summary:

A differential thermoanalysis method (DTA) was used to determine the melting point which conforms with the procedure Test method A.1, "Determination of the melting point", described in the EC-Guideline. A melting range of the substance between approx. 204 to 207 °C could be observed. After the melting of the test item an exothermal phase could be observed between around 240 and 380 °C.

Description of key information

The melting temperature of the substance is in the range of 204 and 207 °C and no pressure was reported. In another study the DSC traces exhibit only the melting endotherm with an onset temperature between 207.4 °C and 207.9 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
206 °C
