Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Biodegradation

Readily biodegradable; read across from CAS 144-62-7

Acute toxicity

-         Fish: no data available

-         Aquatic invertebrates: EC50 (48 h) > 33 mg/L (meas. TWA, OECD 202); read across from CAS 6009-70-7

-         Algae: ErC50 (72 h) > 78 mg/L (geom. mean meas., OECD 201); read across from CAS 6009-70-7

Chronic toxicity

-         Fish: no data available

-         Aquatic invertebrates: no data available

-         Algae: NOErC (72 h) ≥78 mg/L (geom. mean meas., OECD 201); read across from CAS 6009-70-7

Conclusion on classification

Acute aquatic toxicity data are available for an appropriate read across substance for two trophic levels (aquatic invertebrates and algae) while chronic toxicity data are available for algae. Neither short nor long term effects were observed in any of the conducted studies. Furthermore the substance is rapidly biodegradable. Thus dipotassium oxalate anhydrate (CAS 583-52-8) is not classified and labelled for environmental hazard according to the consolidated version of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (dated: 01.01.2017) and further amendments (ATPs).
