Description of key information

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced to biological treatment plants in appropriate low concentrations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The toxicity to microorganisms of the substance was determined in a study following DIN 38412 (BASF, 1989). In this study cultures of Pseudomonas putida are exposed to test substance concentrations of 0 (control), 7.81, 15.63, 31.25, 62.5, 125, 250, 500 and 1000 mg/L for 16 hours. After exposure the optical density is measured at a wavelength of 436 nm. From this study a 16 -h EC10 value of 567.7 mg/L is determined. The 16 -h EC50 value is 933.2 mg/L.
