Description of key information

If released into water, methacrylaldehyde is readily biodegradable (according to OECD criteria).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

Methacrylaldehyde was shown to be readily biodegradable in the closed bottle test (OECD 301D). Biodegradation range from 60 to 70% after 28 days based on oxygen consumption (BASF 2005).
