Determination of the preliminary initial temperature for the main determination (T1)

The approximate auto-ignition temperature of the test item is above 500 °C, therefore the ignition chamber heated up to the temperature about 60 °C below predicted temperature of the auto-ignition with the rate of (3 - 5) °C/min. The test was started at 440 °C. Five drops of liquid were introduced into the ignition chamber during the increase of temperature at intervals of about 20 °C. When any such attempt it was determined whether there was auto-ignition at the time of 3 minutes. The temperature at which the auto-ignition was observed for the first time, was the initial temperature for the main test (T1). The initial temperature for the main test (T1) is: 620 °C.

Conclusions:
The auto flammability of the test item is 595ºC according to EU method A.15 criteria.

Executive summary:

The determination of the auto flammability of the test item was performed according to EU Method A.15 (GLP study). About 200 mL of sample are introduce into an opened Erlenmeyer’s flask. Series of ignition trials were performed by changing the temperature of the chamber walls and amount of a sample, and searching for the lowest temperature in which an ignition appears. The auto flammability of the test item was determined to be 595ºC with atmospheric pressure ranging from 1009 to 1021 hPa.
