Endpoint:
relative density
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2018
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 109 (Density of Liquids and Solids)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.3 (Relative Density)
Deviations:
not applicable
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
other: by displacement
Type:
relative density
Remarks on result:
not determinable because of methodological limitations
Remarks:
Determination of the relative density based on the pycnometer method not possible

Since the test item clumped and/or floated on the demineralized water and demineralized water mixed with Tween 20 to lower the surface tension, no further evaluation could be carried out. In heptane the test item dissolved completely.

Conclusions:
No relative density could be determined for Solvent Green 28 by the pycnometer method.
Executive summary:

The determination of the relative density was based on the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, Section 1 – Physical-Chemical Properties No: 109 “Density of Liquids and Solids“ and to Council Regulations EC No 440/2008, Guideline Part A – Methods for the Determination of Physico-Chemical Properties, A.3. “Relative density”. Solvent Green 28 could not be separated from the solvent. Since the test item clumped and/or floated on the demineralized water and demineralized water mixed with Tween 20 to lower the surface tension, no further evaluation could be carried out. In heptane the test item dissolved completely. Therefore no relative density could be determined for Solvent Green 28 by the pycnometer method.

Description of key information

No relative density could be determined for Solvent Green 28 by the pycnometer method.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The relative density of Solvent Green 28 should have been determined. The test item could not be separated from the solvent cause either the test item floated on top of the solvent and / or the test item clumped together.
