Endpoint:
relative density
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Justification for type of information:
Hop extract has a long history of industrial manufacture, and so company specific information from product technical specifications would be sufficient. However, three batches of hop extract were measured in the Lead Registrant's laboratory to corroborate the technical specification information.
Qualifier:
no guideline required
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Three different hop extracts were used - standard hop extract batch no. 160024, standard hop extract batch number 160026, and oil-rich hop extract batch number BI/YYF/1701. The hop extracts were melted by placing in a drying cabinet at 68.8 oC. The hop extracts were then introduced into pre-weighed 25-ml volumetric flasks. The gross weight of the flask plus hop extract was determined at 20.5 oC. Reverse osmosis water was then added to the flasks to bring the total volume up to 25 ml, and the weight measured again. The weights were used to calculate the density of the hop extracts.
Type of method:
other: Similar to oycnometer method
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Three different hop extracts were used - standard hop extract batch no. 160024, standard hop extract batch number 160026, and oil-rich hop extract batch number BI/YYF/1701.
