Description of key information
Appearance / physical state / colour: The test item is a is a white odourless powder. The data are taken from the test material section of a GLP-compliant study (2016).
Melting point / freezing point: No melting or decomposition was observed up to 1400 °C, as determined by differential scanning calorimetry (2016). This study is considered reliable with restriction (Klimisch 2) as it is a non-GLP study and there are minor restrictions in reporting.
Boiling point: The boiling point has been waived because the substance is a solid which melts above 300 °C.
Density: The relative density of the test item at 22 °C is 4.4 g/cm3, as determined by helium pentapycnometer (2016). This is a non-GLP experimental study and there are minor restrictions in reporting and therefore is considered reliable with restriction (Klimisch 2).
Granulometry: The particle size distribution of the test item was determined by laser diffraction analysis following wet dispersion. The specific surface area was determined according to the BET multipoint method using the adsorption isotherm (2016). The average 10th, 50th and 90th percentile particle sizes were 0.34, 1.26 and 3.80 μm, respectively. The specific surface area was determined as 5.7 m2/g. This is a non-GLP experimental study and there are minor restrictions in reporting and therefore is considered reliable with restriction (Klimisch 2).
Vapour pressure: The vapour pressure has been waived because the substance is a solid which melts above 300 °C.
Partition coefficient: The partition coefficient has been waived as the substance is inorganic.
Water solubility: The water solubility of the test item was determined in a transformation / dissolution test. Uverithe is considered essentially insoluble in the media tested. After 28 days, no antimony or titanium were released from the test item above the limit of detection of 0.5 µg/L at pH 6 or pH 8. The study was conducted according to the OECD 29 guideline and is GLP-compliant. It is therefore considered reliable without restrictions (Klimisch 1) (2016).
Surface tension: The surface tension has been waived as based on structure, surface activity is not expected or predicted and surface activity is not a desired property of the material.
Flash point: The flash point study has been waived as this substance is inorganic.
Self-ignition, auto-flammability, explosive properties endpoints have been waived as are scientifically unjustified based on the nature of the manufacturing process of the substance by heating to high temperatures > 1000˚C and from past practical and extensive experience in the handling of the substance.
Oxidising properties: The oxidising properties study has been waived as there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidising properties.
Additional information
Physico-chemical endpoints are completed for this substance based on test data following standard test methods, or data waivers. All data are therefore considered to be reliable and relevant for the endpoint concerned.
The substance is not classified for physico-chemical hazards. Based on experience in manufacture and handling of the substance, the substance does not meet the criteria for oxidising or explosive properties and it is not a flammable or self-heating solid.
