Additional information

Abiotic degradation of Fatty acids, C16-18, stearyl esters (CAS 85536-04-5)is not a relevant environmental fate pathway. Indirect photodegradation is not expected since the substance is unlikely to be present in the atmosphere based on the estimated vapour pressure (< 0.0001 Pa). Hydrolysis is not relevant because the substance is readily biodegradable and can thus be expected to undergo rapid and ultimate degradation in both aquatic and terrestrial environments, including biological sewage treatment plants (Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.7b, ECHA 2017).
