Endpoint:
boiling point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: Test Guideline 102
Version / remarks:
adopted on 27 July 1995
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: EU test method A.1, Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008
Version / remarks:
30 May 2008
GLP compliance:
no
Other quality assurance:
ISO/IEC 17025 (General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories)
Type of method:
other: thermogravimetric (preliminary test)
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
>= 240 °C
Remarks on result:
not determinable

A preliminary thermogravimetric measurement was performed over a temperature range from room temperature to ca. 600 °C.

The mass loss occurred in two steps (58.0 % and 40.0 %) reaching maxima at 301 °C and approximately 401 °C. The total mass loss up to 600 °C was approximately 98 %. There was a small, dark grey residue.

Conclusions:
The boiling point of C14-18 alkyldimethyl ammonium methosulfate could not be determined due to decompositions starting at approx. 240°C.
Executive summary:

The boiling point of C14-18 alkyldimethyl ammonium methosulfate could not be determined due to decompositions starting at approx. 240°C (preliminary thermogravimetric measurement during determination of melting point; OECD Guideline 102).

Description of key information

no boiling point detected; decompositions at approx. 240°C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The boiling point of C14-18 alkyldimethyl ammonium methosulfate could not be determined due to decompositions starting at approx. 240°C (preliminary thermogravimetric measurement during determination of melting point; OECD Guideline 102).
