Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The substance does neither possess pyrophoric properties nor reacts flammable upon contact with water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

See below

Justification for classification or non-classification

Pyrophoric properties:

According to reference 1) a substance is considered pyrophoric if, under the conditions of a standard test, it spontaneously ignites within five minutes of being exposed to air. Considering the structural formula and experience in handling and use it can be stated that pyrophoricity is not a concern for the abovementioned substance.

Therefore, testing for pyrophoricity is scientifically unjustified.

Ref. 1) Guidance on the Application of the CLP Criteria; ECHA-15-G-05-EN, June 2015, section 2.9.

Flammability on contact with water

According to reference 1) substances, which, in contact with water, are liable to become spontaneously flammable or emit flammable gases in dangerous quantities, are considered as “flammable on contact

with water”. Considering the structural formula and experience in handling and use flammability on contact with water is not a concern for abovementioned substance.

Therefore testing for flammability on contact with water is scientifically unjustified.

Ref. 1) Guidance on the Application of the CLP Criteria; ECHA-15-G-05-EN, June 2015, section 2.12.

Flammable liquids:

In accordance with chapter R.7.1.10 of REACH Guidance IR & CSA, ch.R.7a (v. 5.0, 2016), the flammability of a liquid is described by flash point and boiling point. Based on a flash point of 218.5 °C determined in a valid study according to EU-method A.9 (RL 1), no classification requirements for flammable liquids do apply.
