Description of key information

In the assessment of fatty acids, C9 -13 neo, potassium salts, read-across to the assessment entities soluble potassium substances and neodecanoic acid is applied since the ions of fatty acids, C9 -13 neo, potassium salts determine its fate and toxicity in the environment. The potential for acute toxicity of potassium to fish is low based on EC50 values for different freshwater and marine species being above the OECD 203 test limit of 100 mg/L and the fact that potassium is added to standard test media. Based on a reliable OECD 203 equivalent study, the 96-h LL50 for O. mykiss is > 100 mg/L (measured) neodecanoic acid. In sum, fatty acids, C9 -13 neo, potassium salts has a low potential for acute toxicity to fish.
