Details on test solutions:
A concentrated stock solution of nominal 200 mg/L was freshly prepared by dissolving approximately 200 mg of test material into 1000 mL of test water at the start of the study. The rquired test concentrations were prepared as dilutions from this stock solution. The stock solution and the test concentrations were inverted several times to ensure homogeneity and mixing of the solutions. The test media were prepared just before introduction of the daphnids.

RANGE-FINDING STUDY
- Test concentrations: A range finding study was conducted at test concentrations of 0.1, 1, 10 and 100 mg/L.
- Results used to determine the conditions for the definitive study: No immobilisation was observed at 0.1, 1 and 10 mg/L, however 70% immobilisation occurred at 100 mg/L. Sub-lethal effects of exposure were also seen at test concentrations of 1, 10 and 100 mg/L. Based on the results, the range of test concentrations for the definitive test were selected.
Reference substance (positive control):

Conclusions:
The static test on the acute toxicity of the test substance to Daphnia magna resulted in a 48-hour EC50 value (based on mobility) of >100 mg/L.
Executive summary:

The acute aquatic toxicity of the test substance to the waterflea Daphnia magna was studied in a static test in accordance to OECD TG 202 under GLP over a period of 48 hours. The experiment is considered relevant, adequate and conclusive.

Five daphnids were added per test vessel, and the following nominal test concentrations were studied in four parallel replicates: 0 (controls), 6.25, 12.5, 25, 50 and 100 mg/L. The test concentrations were analysed by HPLC with UV detection in samples taken at the start and after 48 hours, and were found to be in the range from 91% to 98% of the nominal test concentration. Therefore, the effect levels were calculated on the basis of nominal concentrations. The 48-hour EC50 value was >100 mg/L in this study, whereas the NOEC was 50 mg/L.
