Preliminary Test

The content of test item dissolved in the water sample was 0.357 g/L.

Main Study

The results for the samples taken at 24, 48 and 72 hours are given in Table 6.

The maximum difference of the concentrations determined in the 24, 48 and 72 hour test samples was ≤ 15%.  Based on this, the water solubility of the test item is given as the mean value of the analyzed concentrations.

A small response at the retention time of the test item was detected in the chromatogram of the pretreated sample from the blank water mixture.  The maximum contribution to the samples was 0.0017%.  It was considered that it has no significant effect on the results of the test samples.

Table 6

Water Solubility of the Test Item

Stirring time [hours] Analyzed concentration [g/L] Mean [g/L] Maximum difference [%] pH
24 0.283 0.284 1.3 3.6
48 0.284 3.7
72 0.286 3.6

The flask method was applied for the determination of the water solubility of 2-Benzoylbenzoic acid.

The water solubility of the test item at 20°C was 0.284 g/L.

The pH of the aqueous samples was 3.6 and 3.7.
Executive summary:

In this guideline (OECD 105) study conducted with GLP certification, the water solubility of the test material (EC 201-612-2) at 20°C was determined to be 0.284 g/L.
