Description of key information

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriately low concentrations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
220 mg/L

Additional information

A GLP guideline study according to OECD 209 is available for the reaction mass of N1,N3-bis(3-aminopropyl)-2-methyl-cyclohexane-1,3-diamine and N1,N3-bis(3-aminopropyl)-4-methyl-cyclohexane-1,3-diamine (DAP-MCDA).

The respiration inhibition test used activated sludge as inoculum taken from a wwtp treating predominantly domestic sewage. The 3-h EC10 was determined to be 220 mg/L, the 3 -h EC20 was 520 mg/L and the 3-h EC50 was >1000 mg/L (BASF SE, 2018; report no. 08G0592/17G605).

It can be concluded that the inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriately low concentrations.
