Ecotoxicological information

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

Currently viewing:

Administrative data

Endpoint:
short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
13 - 15 Oct 1998
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Guideline study with acceptable restrictions: A very high detection limit (10 mg/L) disabled an analytical monitoring of the test substance.

Details on test solutions:
PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION
- Method: The test substance was weighed directly to the test medium and stirred for one day. Oily drops were recorded on the surface of the test solution after 2 h. The test solution was filtered through a glass fibre filter.

Test organisms

Test organisms (species):
Daphnia magna
Details on test organisms:
TEST ORGANISM
- Source: Ephippia were obtained from BioInternational B.V., NJ Horn Netherlands (1998/09/03, batch 980803)
- Method of breeding: The Ephippia were incubated in M4-medium (Elendt) at approx. 20 °C and approx. 4800 lux (constant illumination). The neonates were incubated in M4-medium (Elendt) at 20 °C and approx. 900 lux (16 h light/8 h dark). They were fed with green algae Scenedesmus subspicatus (last feeding approx. 5 h before study initiation).
