Description of key information

A sample of hydrodesulphurised keroisne was tested in a 'read-across' acute algal toxicity study. The 96hr EL50 was determined to be in the range 10-30  mg/l, with a NOEC of 10 mg/l.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
10 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
10 mg/L

Additional information

A sample of hydrodesulphurised kerosine was tested in an acute algal toxicity studies [ Shell 1995] using the WAF methodology and following OECD Guideline 201. In the key algal toxicity study (Raphidocelis subcapitata) hydrodesulfurised kerosine (Shell, 1995) was tested using WAF methodology, the 72 -hour EL50 was 10 to 30 mg/L WAF (based on both area under the growth curve and average specific growth rates). The NOEL was 10 mg/L.
