Density

Justifications and discussions

Category definition:
Density of proteins. Enzymes are proteins and thus density for proteins are fully applicable for enzymes.
Category rationale:
Density data have been generated for various protein families. The data published in the Handbook 'Proteins: structures and molecular properties' (W.H.Freeman and Company; ISBN 0-7167-2317-4) from 1993 comes from 20 different protein families and they all have densities in the range from 1.32 g/mL to 1.42 g/mL. The density for enzymes has not been determined but since enzymes are proteins it is expected, with very high reliability that enzymes have density in the same range.
