Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The toxicity of diisopropylbenzene hydroperoxide to microorganisms was estimated in a test according to the OECD guideline 209. EC50 and EC10 were determined to be respectively 46.7 mg/L and 10.6 mg/L active ingredient for total respiration.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
46.7 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
10.6 mg/L

Additional information

The toxicity of diisopropylbenzene hydroperoxide to microorganism was estimated in a test according to the OECD guideline 209 “Activated Sludge, Respiration Inhibition Test” and GLP requirements (Gancet, 2013).The effect is assessed by measuring the micro-organisms respiration rates on a sample of activated sludge during an incubation period of 3 hours.Three respiration rates were evaluated : total respiration rate, heterotrophic respiration rate and nitrification respiration rate by difference between total and heterotrophic respiration rates.

EC50 of the reference item 3,5 -dichlorophenol was 15 mg/L, between 2 and 25 mg/L for total respiration; 23 mg/L, between 5 and 40 mg/l for heterotrophic respiration, but could not be determined for nitrification respiration.

EC50 and EC10 for the test item was determined to be respectively 79 mg/L and 18 mg/L for total respiration corresponding to 46.7 and 10.6 mg/L active ingredient.
