Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No abiotic degradation in water, sediment or soil is anticipated, on the basis of the chemical structures present. Hydrocarbons, C18-C24, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics is a UVCB substance composed of saturated linear and branched hydrocarbons with general formula CnH2n+2. None of the constituents contains functional groups associated with the susceptibility to undergo hydrolysis under typical environmental conditions. Measurement of abiotic degradation by hydrolysis is therefore not required on scientific grounds.

Furthermore, the products are poorly soluble in water. Therefore, in accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VIII, the hydrolysis study (section 9.2.2.1) does not need to be conducted.
