Additional information

Several studies on biodegradation in water, BOD5 and COD are available for Direct Orange 39 (CAS 1325 -54 -8) and for the substance with CAS Nr. 1195028 -55 -7 (which has the identical chemical molecular structure in respect to the anionic organic components). The substance is considered as inherent biodegradable in water. No biodegradation studies in sediments and soil are available. According to the results of exposure calculation as part of chapter 9 and 10 of this Chemical Safety Report, the Predicted exposure concentrations are very low with regional PEC giving RCR<0.01 for all compartments and local PEC giving RCR<0.5. Therefore sediment and soil are not considered environmental compartments of concern.
