Test system

Vehicle:
unchanged (no vehicle)
Controls:
other: the eye which was not treated from the same animal
Amount / concentration applied:
0.1mL of 2,4-Dichlorobenzoyl chloride
Duration of treatment / exposure:
The lids were then gently held together for about one second. The other eye, which remains untreated, serves as a control.
Eyes were not rinsed.
Observation period (in vivo):
8 days
Number of animals or in vitro replicates:
6
Details on study design:
Eyes were inspected for integrity before the testing.
The test substance was placed in the conjunctival sac of one eye of each animal.
The lids were then gently held together for about one second. The other eye, which remains untreated, serves as a control.
Eyes were not rinsed.
Eyes were examined 24, 48, 72 and 192 hours after application. The eye was gently closed for one sec. The detection was done with the help of an ophthalmoscope.
