Additional information

Titanium carbide (TiC; CAS 12070-08-5) is a crystalline solid, with a melting point of 3067 °C and a density of 4.93 g/cm³. TiC is non-combustile, the self-ignition temperature is 272°C. The median value of particle size of titanium carbide is 2.13 µm. The substance is considered insoluble in water, as the transformation/dissolution test performed with titanium carbide samples at different pH (6, 7, and 8) showed no metal release in any of the tests performed (method detection limit: 0.4 µg/L).
